Jevita Reneé Hamilton, LCSW

How I work…

Each conversation is tailored specifically for you, as an individual, understanding that you are unique, and through effective communication, we will find your counseling style. Time will be taken to get to know you before asking about problems and offering solutions.

As your therapist, we will look at the entire picture together, offering a holistic approach in every conversation. I understand that you are a multi-dimensional individual, and the focus will be on getting to know all aspects of you.

We as people, often lead a very busy life, not free from severe life stressors. Sometimes, we have tried everything and are just shy of making the goal. Reaching out can be overwhelming, feeling like another one of life stressors. I understand…you want to find someone with whom you can connect and have the flexibility to meet within your busy schedule.

Rest assured… you’re already doing the hardest part.

My mission is to find ways to assist others succeed in life.

My goal is to support you in overcoming the obstacles stopping you from achieving your dreams. I want to be here for you and sometimes how I show up can look different each time. This makes me flexible and equipped to greet whatever version of you that comes to each session.

Therapy is about collaborative rediscovery and finding meaning.

Therapy with me is more like a guided conversation with accountability. Through our collaborative process, you can feel seen and safe enough to venture to the parts of you that you have buried or forgotten and rediscover the real true you.

Attachment plays a large part in how we interact with the world around us and teaches us that every behavior has meaning. It doesn’t mean that every behavior is justified; just that what’s happening underneath is worth exploring. Using this type of attachment lens in our conversations will give you new insights into what’s really going on in your life. This is where trauma-specific treatments like EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and SE (Somatic Experiencing) can be most beneficial.

Productive sessions require openness.

Show up and Be You.

I get it…being vulnerable takes courage, but it can also lead to the growth and positive changes that you are seeking. Be yourself and speak your truth. Your honesty can be the gift that you need to build your new future.

No judgment, no surprises.

I’m an open-minded person, and after over a decade of experience, there is nothing that shocks me. Absolutely no judgment

Here are my credentials.

Bachelor’s of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University

Master’s of Social Work from Georgia State University

Master of Arts in Grant Writing Research and Evaluation from Concordia University

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I began my career working with various non-profits. So, when it comes to the topic of burnout, trust me…I have lived it and breathed it.

I am a Certified EMDR therapist and am in the process of obtaining a special topics EMDR certification in Dissociation. In addition, Im in training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I believe in being a life-long learner and that continuing education is necessary to be the best therapist I can be.

Often folks ask me what my specialties are. In one sentence…I’m a trauma therapist specializing in normalizing dissociation, healing attachment injury, recovering from burnout, and navigating life transitions.

An interesting thing about me is…

…that I love to craft and travel. However, I think I get more joy out of planning projects and travel plans.
